Provides material and process engineering capability in support of the Eclipse 550 very light jet program. Will support changes to the existing design, new designs and be responsible for the associated material and process specifications. Responsibility for review and approval of supplier process documentation. Must be a self-starter, able to understand the interactions between the different engineering disciplines and able to work in a cooperative, dynamic, team oriented environment.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintenance of existing Eclipse Aerospace material and process specifications
  • Creation of new material and process specifications as needed to support new designs
  • Technical oversight of friction stir weld assembly process
  • Review and approval of supplier process documentation
  • Provide engineering liaison support to suppliers and manufacturing
  • Participate in planning for re-start of the Eclipse 550 manufacturing activity
  • Participate in improvement and cost reduction initiatives

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aircraft industry
  • Material and process specification experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Good technical writing skills

 Preferred:

  • Friction stir welding experience
  • Materials and Process DER

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work may be performed in an office, warehouse or hangar environment with exposure to noise from aircraft and machinery. Light physical demands associated with an office work environment. May need to lift/move materials up to 25lbs. with or without assistance.

TRAVEL: 10% or less travel

REPORTS TO: Manager, Mechanical Engineering

SCHEDULE: M-F / exempt position with a minimum work week of 40 hours

SALARY RANGE: $80K – $120K / year
